EFFECTIVE CURRICULUM DELIVERY
CURRICULUM PLANNING
Suryodaya College of Engineering & Technology was established in the year 2010 by National Rural Development & Research Society with a view of inculcating technical and professional skills in the students. Institute is affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University and offers UG in Engineering & Technology and PG programme in Business Management.
ACADEMIC CALENDAR
As Suryodaya College of Engineering & Technology is affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, the College follows the Academic Calendar issued by the University every year.
The Head of the Institute, Heads of the Departments along with Examination Committee plan and prepare the academic calendar every year at the beginning of the academic year. This is provided to the faculty members and the students prior to the beginning of classes and teaching. It is displayed on the notice boards of all departments and also it is made available on the college website – www.scetngp.com. Taking this calendar into account, every department chalks out the academic plan at the departmental level. It includes curricular activities and co-curricular activities like seminars, conferences, workshops and guest lectures. Along with this, extra- curricular activities like sports events and cultural events are also included in the designed plan. The academic calendar is strictly followed and put into action.
TEACHING PLAN
The college forms a time table committee. The committee prepares a central class wise time table at the beginning of every academic year and communicates the same to all the departments. The departmental time table is finalized by the HOD of the respective department for the faculty members at the beginning of the term. The same is displayed on the notice board for the students. The Head of the Department prepares the Teaching Plan for the respective department. It is designed for the semester. It includes allotment of subjects. Allocation of the teaching hours is based on the number of credits. The individual faculty then prepares a Course Plan and allocates required hours to each unit from the syllabus. Lesson Plan is prepared which includes the date, topic along with teaching mode.
The central time table for practical is prepared by all Heads of Departments. The schedule and Batches for practical is determined through departmental meetings. Each teaching faculty prepares individual time-table and the same is verified by HOD and Principal before implementation.
ACADEMIC REVIEW MEETING
Academic Review Meeting is conducted by the Principal. The meeting is attended by the HODs, Class In-charges and the Subject teachers. Principal also conducts the meetings of the HODs, Class In-charges, the Subject teachers and entire Staff including non-teaching to ensure smooth implementation of the activities as scheduled and planned.
TEACHING METHODS
PPT Presentations and online web resources are also used along with traditional black-board teaching method for enhancing learning experiences of students.
Study material such as lecture notes, question bank and lab manuals are prepared by the faculty members for their respective subjects and are made available to the students.
REMEDIAL CLASSES
The Class In-charges monitor the attendance and performance of the students. HODs also monitor the overall performance of the students. The student’s performance and attendance is communicated to the parents during the Parents-Teacher Meeting. If there are any issues identified with the students, they are counselled and corrective measures are taken. Slow learners and for students having average learning capability, remedial classes are conducted.
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT TEST
Internal assessment test is conducted and for this the faculty prepare their schedule of teaching, class tests and assignments in accordance with their allotted time table. While doing this the academic calendar is considered. The students are informed in advance about the dates of submission of assignment, dates for class tests and presentations. Criteria for the assessment are also shared with the students.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT
Industrial Visits are organized regularly to give the industrial exposure to the students about how the organizations operate and the industrial operations go on. The batches of 40-60 students are formed and sent to the industrial units to see the ongoing work, machinery, work –culture, etc. Students are accompanied by a faculty member to instruct the students about the company, its projects, machinery, work-culture, etc.
PLACEMENT CELL
The college has an active Training and Placement Cell. It offers training on Soft Skill Development, Pre-placement Training, Verbal and Logical Skills, Campus Recruitment Training, etc. Students are encouraged to work as interns in industry when working on the projects. All efforts in curricular and co-curricular are meant to develop holistic personality of the students.
